Basswood
Our shutters are manufactured from furniture – quality wood.
It is extremely important that shutters are made with the right type of timber as some
timbers are less suitable than others because they warp and split more easily, are less
moisture resistant, and are sometimes too heavy leading to sagging.
Plantation King shutters
are produced from selected (Basswood) which is grown in Russia.
Basswood is light and stable and easy to work with
The wood is oven-dried and no longer contains resin, thus preventing bleeding.
Due to their stable nature the shutter profiles highly minimize any warping.
The louvres are manufactured from quarter-sawn wood.
The wood is first sawn lengthways, at the trunk, into four, and then planks square to
the growth rings are sawn fom each “quarter”. Quarter planks mainly shrink the breadth,
not in the length. For this reason quarter wood is, technically speaking, the best. It is
the least prone to deforming. (Not prone to warping).
